  • Emergency Refuge Centers and Daytime Warming Centers will Open this Weekend

    A cold front will push into the area, dropping temperatures to near freezing Friday night. Strong north winds will create hazardous marine conditions through Saturday.

    Saturday morning wind chills (feels like temperature) are expected to be slightly below 32 degrees.

  • Cold Conditions Expected this Weekend, Residents Need to Prepare

    A cold front will push through late tonight into Friday morning, dropping temperatures to near freezing Friday night. Strong north winds will create hazardous marine conditions through Saturday. The City has protocols in place to ensure proper and safe City services, such as public safety, roads, water and wastewater, and animal care. 

  • City Urges Residents to Prepare for Freezing Conditions

    The National Weather Service forecasts that frigid air will move into the area Saturday night and Sunday behind a cold front. Low temperatures will drop into the 20s for much of the region.

  • City Will Open Overnight Refuge Centers and Daytime Warming Centers

    The National Weather Service has issued an Extreme Cold Watch for the area from Saturday evening through Monday morning with temperatures in the 20s to 30s and wind chill values in the 10s to 20s. Frostbite and hypothermia are likely if unprotected skin is exposed to these temperatures.

The Office of Emergency Management provides information and guidance to the public during an emergency. During an emergency, the Office operates the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) — a central office which allows for face-to-face coordination among personnel who must make emergency decisions. As a division of the Fire Department, the Office works year-round planning for different emergencies scenarios, and providing the public with resources to help the community Prepare, Respond and Recover from any emergency event.
